Week ending 9 Aug

The weekend was primarily spent at home. Saturday - Tesco, sleep and nothing in the evening. Sunday was groceries, cooking, sleep and badminton. I lost 3 games to Sekhar. I beat Kiran in 1 game. He twisted his ankle and had to stop playing further. Sekhar is playing exceptionally well. I am struggling to keep pace with him especially when I am slow and do not get my shots. He has more range of shots than me especially on the backhand - serve, drop and clear and well. It will not be easy to beat him. We had 3-3 record this week but he has won the first 3 games. My challenge is to beat him in the first 3 games. And also to do it easily rather than with a struggle. I would plan to improve my range of shots in the next couple of months. However I am not motivated enough to do it as I am keen on badminton in the longer term. I would like to pick up tennis. I will have to make some decisions soon.
During the week I was in Barcelona for the first 3 days. I did a good job received some appreciation; not without some luck. Completed the Retail EA transformation for Sriram.
I am encountering more and more instances of the world becoming very untrustworthy - Accenture's report on performance testing, Vodafone PAC code not being sent until chased up, SMS charges of £3.8/- per SMS on 3 SMS messages with a free iPhone advertisement, Mercedes Bristol & London blindly asking me to extend the insurance cover until 20th by one more than what the body repair team had told me, etc. Everyone seems to be cheating. Watch out.

Week Ending - 19 July

Last week had been primarily around Disha recovering from the fever and the heat rash/MMR reaction she had. She was at home for the whole week. Sireesha also took 2 days off. Disha recovered within a couple of days and since then she had been fine. Kiran and Suchitra visited us over the weekend. We went to the Ealing temple, had good Saturday and Sunday lunches. Specials being coconut chutney and prawn biryani. I shared some architecture docs with Kiran. We discussed about the contracting opportunities at Harshad's company one of which Kiran would be getting into. Kiran is also helping me with some money here in UK while Dad is helping me in India. Chatted with Chinna. He is having a good time with the new TV. He seemed to have wept towards the end. Mom was saying that it's good if money is useful in some way to us. They were a little scared that we may get settled permanently in the UK. They are looking forward to spend some time together with us at some point in the future. Disha is learning new things. I am learning new things as well. Suchitra showed some keen interest and seriousness about tennis and Wimbledon. She mentioned of sitting in the front rows and watching a match played by one of our kids later in life. There is a 4 bed house in MK that is £255,000/- that is in Blanchland Circle. I met Sriram and the LTSB team on Friday. I feel that the EA transformation work that I am doing for Retail a blessing. I was trying to do something similar on my own. I suppose it would be good idea to own this piece for Retail and possibly for all verticals. Let me see where I take this. I played 8 games of badminton on Sunday and lost 1 of them to Sekhar 21-16. All other were won convincingly 21-15 or so but for one that went to 23-21.

Weekend - 12 July

We have been at home this weekend as Disha was not well. She had flu from Thursday on. We felt that it has been coz of the tiredness from our previous weekend's trip to Adi's place. She did not sleep and eat well there while playing a lot. It was a good trip though.
On Saturday we had delicious Upma for lunch and Pasta for dinner. We watched a movie (Billa) online. On Sunday we prepared chicken as well as fish. We took Disha to the park for a while which she enjoyed. I won all my games at badminton with Sekhar and Kiran. Disha seems to be having Measles. Will to take her to the doctor tomorrow. I got a few books to read from the library. Picked up Anita Desai and Robin Cook to begin with. Catch up next weekend.

Disha's birthday

Disha's birthday on the 30th went very well. We felt like a mini-wedding with all our close friends joining us. My college friends were with us for a couple of days making it all the more memorable.

The planning and preparation was done over a period of one month. It has been a memorable experience buying all the return gifts, party bags, decorations and arranging for the lunch. Decoration of our home has been another great experience. Disha's photographs had been been another highlight.

We have spent about £1200/- but it has been worth it. But the experience is worth it and we will cherish for a long time.

Thanks to everyone especially Sireesha who was persistent in making this a success. Disha herself enjoyed the whole experience very much.

Healthy tips

1. Virtuous cycle of drinking water
Drinking water has several salubrious effects on healthy living. It improves the glow of skin, makes me take a number of breaks through forced nature's call, reduces unwanted hunger and keeps the digestive system cleaner.
2. Virtuous cycle of doing exercises
Doing exercise improves the flow of blood, keeps body weight under control, strengthens the muscles contributing to a good physique in sport and also promotes self-confidence. Including the exercise routine like cycling or walking into a daily office routine is doubly beneficial.
3. Eating habit begins at Tesco
Good eating habit is dependent on good shopping habit. If I control my senses while I buy my foods it eliminates the subsequent need to consume them. Buy more vegetables, fruits and pulses.
