Thinking big or thinking small

What's better - to think big or to think small. Some people say it's better to target for the stars, you may not reach the stars but you will at least make significant stride in trying to do so. Others say keep things small and simple. Small achievements give a sense of satisfaction and confidence. There is less chance to go wrong.
